Honshu island, Japan, end of 16th century.
Tokugawa Ieyasu, heir of a small insignificant clan, is about to unify Japan for the first time in history, allowing it to enter the Edo period.

Play the Shitennōs, the samurai generals, who helped Shogun tokugawa to control the provinces. But pay intention to the precedence of the ranks.

Goal of the game

You have to take control of the Provinces of Old Japan, in order to gain Shogun’s favors.

How to play?

Each round is made of two phases:

1. The sharing of titles, troops and kokus: the player with the highest title forms a lot of cards and offers it to the player with the next title in the hierarchy. The latter can either takes the lot or refuse it. If he refuses, the first player offers it to the next player. This player may accept or refuse it, and so on. When a lot is accepted by a player, the first player forms another lot. He then offers it, according to the order determined by the Titles, to the players that have not taken a lot yet. When all the players refuse a lot, he keeps it. The following player who has not got a lot yet, according to the order determined by the Titles, goes on with the sharing.

2. The control of Provinces: the players can now place their tokens on the board by discarding either an amount of Kokus corresponding to the value of the Province, or the right combination of Troop cards. Then they gain favor points and bonus tiles.

End of the game

The game ends when a player has placed all his tokens. For each Province, the player with the majority of tokens scores additional favor points. The player with the most favor points is the winner of the game.
